    Business Development Manager - Maritime & Defence

    About the Role

    To lead, develop and expand G3 Systems’ Deployable Infrastructure business portfolio across UK maritime and defence sectors, including but not limited to the Royal Navy, NavyPODS, AtlanticNET, and wider modular infrastructure programmes.

    The postholder is accountable for identifying, qualifying and progressing opportunities that align with G3’s strategic capabilities, and for driving structured Business Development (BD) activity from market scanning through to handover for detailed capture and proposal development.

    The role serves as a visible ambassador for G3 Systems, strengthening client relationships, enhancing market presence, and ensuring that the new business pipeline is accurate, actionable and aligned to business growth objectives.


    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Market Development

    • Build and maintain deep understanding of the maritime defence market, including customer priorities, funding cycles, capability gaps and competitor activity.
    • Identify and evaluate market segments, prospective clients and contracting routes that align with G3’s technical and operational capabilities.
    • Shape early client engagement to position G3 favourably ahead of formal procurement phases.

    Client Engagement & Representation

    • Represent G3 Systems to existing and prospective customers, presenting company capability, innovation initiatives and value propositions.
    • Deliver high-quality presentations, briefings and technical/operational overviews tailored to the audience.
    • Undertake structured networking, attendance at industry events, and targeted relationship-building with decision-makers, influencers and partners.

    Opportunity Identification & Qualification

    • Identify, assess and prioritise profitable new business opportunities, including early- stage intelligence gathering, procurement scheduling insight, competitor mapping and alignment to internal capability.
    • Maintain accurate and timely updates to the G3 Systems New Business Pipeline, ensuring clear status visibility and forecast confidence.

    Capture Preparation & Handover

    • Lead, coordinate and de-risk upstream BD activity required to take opportunities from concept into formal capture, ensuring the business is well positioned before committing resources.
    • Develop outline bid strategies, win themes, solution approaches and partnership models ahead of handover.
    • As required, lead capture activity and support proposal development

    Partnership & Supply Chain Development

    • Identify, assess and cultivate relationships with potential teaming partners, specialist suppliers and subcontractors aligned to specific opportunities or strategic capability gaps.
    • Support the creation of teaming agreements, NDAs and collaborative delivery models.

    Marketing, Brand & External Positioning

    • Support the development of marketing collateral, capability brochures, case studies and thought-leadership content.
    • Identify PR, events and marketing channels that enhance G3 Systems’ reputation and visibility within the defence and infrastructure sectors.
    • Contribute to ongoing improvements in brand messaging, website content, and customer-facing communications.

    Governance, Processes & Cross-Functional Working

    • Ensure all BD activities are aligned with internal governance requirements, including Gate Reviews for new opportunities.
    • Work collaboratively with EP&P, Operations, Finance, ICT, Security and other business support teams to ensure opportunities are accurately costed, risk-assessed and viable.
    • Comply with all Company Business Operating Procedures and contribute to the development or refinement of processes that support sustainable growth.

    Records Management & Information Governance

    • Maintain accurate, compliant and audit-ready records relating to BD and marketing activities in line with G3 Systems’ Records Retention Business Process.
    • Ensure appropriate information security handling, including classification and storage requirements for official-sensitive material

    Qualifications Required

    Essential

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a business development, capture, client engagement or strategic programme role within defence, engineering, maritime or complex infrastructure sectors.
    • Degree-level education.
    • Demonstrable project or programme management experience, with the ability to move seamlessly between strategic and delivery-focused activities.

    Desirable

    • Postgraduate qualification (MBA, Marketing, Defence Studies or similar).
    • Formal capture management or bid-management training (APMP, Shipley, etc.)

    Skills & Experience

    • Strong leadership and stakeholder-management capability, with confidence operating at and liasing with senior levels.

    Project Manager

    Ready to take charge of high-stakes projects? G3 Systems is seeking a Project Manager to drive the WTB Project Management Plan from vision to reality. You’ll lead the project, coordinate a team of specialists, and ensure every element runs smoothly, on National and International military sites. Security clearance is a must, but the opportunity to make an impact is huge.

     

    Service Delivery:

    • Project delivery as defined in the Project Management Plan.
    • Project reporting and communication management as defined in the Communication Management Plan.

    Commercial Manager - Construction

    We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead and manage all commercial and contractual aspects of our construction projects delivered under NEC4. This role will ensure value for money, commercial control, and full compliance with contractual terms and corporate governance from pre-contract through to project closeout. You will act as a key member of the construction leadership team, driving commercial discipline, managing risk, and supporting the successful delivery of our project portfolio.

    Key Responsibilities

    Commercial Leadership & Contract Management

    • Lead all commercial and planning aspects across the construction department’s projects.
    • Ensure proactive administration of NEC3/NEC4 contracts throughout their lifecycle, including early warnings (EWN), compensation events (CEs), applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
    • Maintain robust commercial records including contracts, notices, valuations, correspondence, and change logs.
    • Ensure strict commercial compliance with contract terms, company policies, governance frameworks and public-procurement rules (where applicable).

    Pre-Contract, Procurement & Cost Control

    • Support pre-contract activities including tendering, procurement and programme planning.
    • Monitor and report on cost performance: earned value, forecasting, budget vs actual, change control, cost variances, and risk/opportunity management.
    • Provide clear, accurate monthly or periodic commercial reports for clients and senior leadership.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

    • Provide strong commercial leadership, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Interface with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams (cost, planning, legal, procurement, finance) to ensure aligned commercial outcomes.
    • Negotiate final accounts and settlements, ensuring lessons learned are captured.
    • Coach, mentor and support junior commercial staff, fostering a culture of commercial awareness across the department.

    Risk, Quality & Performance

    • Identify, evaluate and manage commercial risks and opportunities, feeding into the project risk register and driving mitigation strategies.
    • In partnership with the Construction Operations Manager, monitor progress, quality and commercial compliance through to project completion.
    • Lead and support commercial meetings with clients and subcontractors, assigning tasks and monitoring performance outputs.

    Qualifications Required

    • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business or a related field.
    • Professional membership (desirable) such as RICS, CIPS, AACE or similar.
    • Accreditation in NEC contracting or commercial management highly advantageous.

    Skills & Experience

    • 5+ years’ proven experience in commercial or contract management on construction projects using NEC3/NEC4.
    • Strong understanding of NEC processes: EWN, CEs, option selections, and contractual obligations.
    • Experience across the full project lifecycle, from pre-contract to final account.
    • Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and present cost reports and forecasts.

You will develop and manage construction programmes from bid through delivery, lead programme meetings, and collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.     Skills and experience required

    • Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD, (experience working with 3D CAD systems is advantageous but not critical).
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel & Outlook.

    The ideal candidate will lead the mobilisation and delivery of the WTB Maintenance Agreement, from team recruitment and Maintenance Solution realisation to full in-service support delivery. Based at the Netherlands PMO, the role will manage the resources, finances, risks, and subcontractors while ensuring programme performance, stakeholder satisfaction, and full compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards.

    Achievement of security clearance is mandatory to the role to enable the successful candidate to work on this programme..

    Key responsibilities shall include:

    Mobilisation Phase:

    • Support the recruitment and mobilisation of the project team.
    • Develop and implement processes and procedures specific to the delivery of the WTB Maintenance Agreement.
    • Involvement in the identification of resources required to set up the maintenance contract, including the setup of the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and PMO facilities.

     

    Service Delivery Phase:

    • Manage to O&M production with G3 and sub-contractors.

    Qualifications Required

    • Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies (6035-02)
    • Diploma in Heating and Ventilating – Industrial and Commercial Installation (6188-30)
    • Diploma in Heating and Ventilating – Ductwork Installation (6188-31)
    • Diploma in Planned and Reactive Maintenance on Heating and Ventilating Systems (6188-32)
    • Award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations 2079: Category I – Leak checking, recovery, installation, service, maintenance of equipment
    • Level 2 & 3 NVQ Diplomas in Heating and Ventilation

    Skills & Experience

    • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills, with an ability and confidence to coordinate and direct third party contractors and employees
